Creating candidate accounts

Candidates of any age can have an ABRSM account even if they have not made the exam booking. Parents/carers can create this account on behalf of a child, but the account must be in the child's name.

Candidates can create an account at any time.

All candidates taking online Music Theory exams must have an account. For other exams they are optional. With an account candidates can:

  • View information about forthcoming exams and past results
  • Reschedule instrumental and singing exams at Public Venues
  • Upload a digital Performance Grade or ARSM video
  • Access an online Music Theory exam
  • Have direct access to results and mark forms after we’re released them to the applicant

How to create a candidate account

  • If the applicant includes the candidate’s email address in their exam booking, they will automatically receive an email confirming the booking and inviting them to create an account. The email will include a link to the registration page.
  • Once an exam has been booked, the candidate can create an account at any time.

Tips for creating a candidate account:

  • Use the candidate’s name to create the account – not the parent or carer’s.
  • If the candidate has taken exams before and has an ABRSM Contact ID, enter this with their date of birth when creating the account. This allows us to build an accurate exam record for them. If you don’t know a candidate’s Contact ID, ask the person who booked their most recent exam. You can also find it on recent mark forms and certificates.
